For pickled vegetables, add 2 tsp. pickling spice per quart of brine. To make 2 qts. of brine, mix 8 cups water with 1/3 cup salt and 1/2 cup vinegar. To parboil 2-3 lbs. ribs, add 3 T spices to water in a 5 qt. pot before grilling.
